Interpreting services for conversations, meetings and events

The right interpreting method depends on setting, participant count, duration, interaction, confidentiality, technical setup and whether the assignment is on-site or remote.

Interpreting methods

Each method serves a different communication need.

Simultaneous interpreting

The interpreter renders the message while the speaker continues. This suits conferences, presentations and larger meetings where interruptions should be limited.

Often requires equipment and preparation.

Consecutive interpreting

The speaker pauses at natural intervals. This method works well for consultations, interviews, meetings and smaller groups.

Suitable for detailed interaction.

Whispered interpreting

The interpreter speaks quietly for one or a few listeners. It is useful when most participants understand the main language.

Not suitable for every room.

Liaison interpreting

The interpreter supports two-way communication in healthcare, municipal, education, legal and business conversations.

On-site, by phone or by video.

Conference interpreting

For international meetings, panels, delegations and presentations. Programmes, speaker notes and terminology support preparation.

Technical setup should be discussed.

Legal interpreting

For lawyer consultations, interviews, hearings and official conversations. Requirements can differ by procedure or authority.

Always check the applicable requirements.

Remote interpreting

By telephone or video when travel is unnecessary or impractical. Good audio, privacy and clear turn-taking remain essential.

Practical for short or online meetings.
